Class Schedules
Texas Concealed Handgun License Classes are held Five Days a Week. Choose the day you would like to attend from the following days:

SATURDAY CHL CLASS for NEW STUDENTS – 8 AM to 7 PM

TUESDAY CHL CLASS for NEW STUDENTS – 12 Noon to 10 PM - (NO LUNCH BREAK)

WEDNESDAY CHL CLASS for NEW STUDENTS – 12 Noon to 10 PM - (NO LUNCH BREAK)

THURSDAY CHL CLASS for NEW STUDENTS – 12 Noon to 10 PM – (NO LUNCH BREAK)

FRIDAY CHL CLASS for NEW STUDENTS – 8 AM to 7 PM

Check the CLASS SCHEDULE for exact dates and times. The Texas Concealed Handgun License Class is a One Day Class. It is no longer necessary to order your Application Packet from the Texas Department of Public Safety Concealed Handgun Unit. The Concealed Handgun Unit sends the Application Packets to us and we will give you your Application Packet when you arrive at the classroom. If you have your Application Packet, bring it with you to class. Additionally, if you want to, you can go to the Texas Department of Public Safety Concealed Handgun Unit Web Site and apply for or renew a concealed handgun license on-line, resume a previous uncompleted application session, or check the status of a completed application. You are not required to apply on-line. You can send the state fee to the Concealed Handgun Unit when you mail your Application Packet to them.

The cost of the Texas Concealed Handgun License Class is $110.00. This price includes us notarizing your affidavits, taking your photos, taking your fingerprints using the Crossmatch Live Scan Digital Fingerprinting System, the classroom fee, and the range fee. If you want to qualify with your handgun, bring your UNLOADED handgun and TWO BOXES of ammunition to class. If you want to qualify with one of our handguns, we will furnish you a Semi-Automatic Handgun and One Box of ammunition for $25.00. If you need an additional box of ammo, the cost of the second box will be $15.00. If you would like to take our Texas Concealed Handgun License Class, you can either CONTACT US by phone, at 214-340-3101, or REGISTER ONLINE.

The Texas Concealed Handgun License Class is also available in a PRIVATE CLASS. The cost of a private class for ONE PERSON is $210. A private class for TWO or more people is $160 each person. This price includes us notarizing your affidavits, taking your passport photos, taking your fingerprints, using the Crossmatch Live Scan Digital Fingerprinting System, the classroom fee and the range fee. Class Schedules
The Texas Department of Public Safety will send you a letter about five (5) months before your license expires. In the letter is your PIN number. You will need it in the future, so do not misplace the letter! After you receive the letter, if you want to, you can go to the Texas Department of Public Safety Concealed Handgun Unit Web Site and apply for or renew a concealed handgun license on-line, resume a previous uncompleted application session, or check the status of a completed application. You are not required to apply on-line. You can send the state fee to the Concealed Handgun Unit when you mail your Application Packet to them.

The DPS requests that you return your completed application package to Austin, with your Certificate of Training Form (the TR-100), no later than 45 days BEFORE your concealed handgun license expires. The Texas Department of Public Safety wants you to receive your new Concealed Handgun License from them before your current License expires.

Texas Concealed Handgun Renewal Classes are scheduled Six Days a Week! Choose the day you would like to attend from the following days:

If you want to qualify with your handgun, bring your UNLOADED handgun and at least ONE BOX of ammunition to class. If you want to qualify with one of our handguns, we will furnish you a Semi-Automatic Handgun and One Box of ammunition for $25.00. If you need an additional box of ammo, the cost of the second box will be $15.00. The Texas Commissioned Security Officer Training Class, (Level III), is a THIRTY HOUR CLASS. The cost of the class is $150.00. This price includes the classroom fee and the range fee. If you want us to take your fingerprints, using the Crossmatch Live Scan Digital Fingerprinting System, bring an extra $10.00! You are required to qualify with a Handgun and Shotgun during the class. The Handgun must be at least a .38 Caliber Revolver or at least a 9 MM Semiautomatic. Bring your Handgun and 100 rounds of ammunition to the class. If you do not have a Handgun, we will furnish the Handgun and ammunition for $25.00. The Shotgun must be a 12 Gauge. Bring your Shotgun and 10 Shotgun Shells (12 gauge - 00 Buck). If you do not have a Shotgun, we will furnish the Shotgun and Shotgun Shells for $15.00.

Texas Commissioned Security Officer Re-qualification Class is a Six Hour Class. $75.00 Home Top

Class Schedules

The Texas Commissioned Security Officer Re-Qualification Class is a Six Hour Class. The cost of the class is $75.00! This price includes the classroom fee and the range fee. We offer the class THREE DAYS A WEEK, ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY Check the CLASS SCHEDULE for exact dates and times. You can REGISTER ONLINE or CONTACT US by phone, at 214-340-3101, or e-mail the ACADEMY DIRECTOR.

You must re-qualify with a handgun. The handgun must be at least a .38 Caliber Revolver or at least a 9 MM Semi-automatic. We suggest you qualify with a semiautomatic, so you will be qualified to carry either a revolver or a semi-automatic. Bring your handgun and 50 rounds of ammunition to the class. If you do not have a handgun, we will furnish the handgun and ammunition (50 rounds) for $15.00. Current Texas law does not require you to re-qualify with a shotgun, however, we suggest that you do re-qualify with a Shotgun, so STG will be on your Commission Card, just in case you ever need to carry one. If you do qualify with a Shotgun, the Shotgun must be a 12 gauge. Bring your shotgun and 6 shotgun shells (12 gauge - 00 Buck). If you do not have a shotgun, we will furnish the shotgun and shotgun shells (6 shells) for $15.00.

Texas Personal Protection Officers Training (Body Guard Certification) Home Top
Class Schedule
The TCPS Personal Protection Officers Training (Level lV) is a fifteen hour course. At the conclusion of the course, you will receive your Certificate of Completion to apply for your Personal Protection Authorization from the Texas Private Security Bureau. You will also receive, at no additional charge, your Certification to carry Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray). Effective September 1, 2003, every Commissioned Security Officer that carries Pepper Spray, must have the O. C. Certification. The cost of the PPO Class is $200.00. Additionally, you will be required to take the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) before sending your application to the Texas Private Security Bureau. For additional information on the MMPI, contact Dr. George Mount at 972-458-8333. Also, we can teach the Personal Protection Officer Training Class (Level IV) at YOUR LOCATION WITH THREE OR MORE STUDENTS. Oleoresin Capsicum (Pepper Spray) Certification Classes for Security Guards Home Top

If you are planning on taking the Level IV Personal Protection Officer Training Class, YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE THIS CLASS! You will be certified to carry O. C. (Pepper Spray) in the Level IV class! O. C. (Pepper Spray) Certification is required for all Non-Commissioned Officers, Commissioned Security Officers and Personal Protection Officers to carry Pepper Spray. The O. C. (Pepper Spray) Certification Class is a Four Hour Class. You only need to take the O. C. (Pepper Spray) Certification one time. The pocket card and certificate you will receive from Texas Handgun Academy is good forever and does not expire. The cost of the class is $50.00. The O. C. (Pepper Spray Certification Class is available at Texas Handgun Academy two times each month. Texas Private Security Bureau Continuing Education Classes Home Top
All of the Continuing Education Courses offered by Texas Handgun Academy are approved by the Texas Private Security Bureau. The CE Classes are approved for Private Investigators and all Security Registrants. If your title is listed below, our CE courses are approved for you.

Private Investigators
A total of sixteen hours is required, two hours must be over ethics.

Owners and Qualified Managers of Class A or C Companies.
A total of sixteen hours is required, two hours must be over ethics.

Owners or Qualified Managers of Class B Companies.
A total of eight hours is required, one hour must be over ethics.

Alarm Systems Installers and Sales Persons
A total of eight hours is required.

Alarm Systems Monitor
A total of four hours is required.

At the conclusion of this course the student will know and understand the principles of ethical behavior. The student will know and understand the definitions and meanings of Fairness and Justice, Respect for Self and Others, Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Caring and Compassion and Citizenship. The student will also have a better understanding on how to apply these principles to his or her daily life. Survival Spanish for the Security Industry - Eight (8) Credit Hours! Home Top
Class Schedules
The Survival Spanish Class is approved for all Private Investigators and Security Registrants including Alarm System Monitors and Installers. The cost of the Survival Spanish Class is $100.00 and requires pre-registration and a non-refundable pre-payment. The purpose of this course is not to teach you Spanish. This course is designed to teach you some guidelines, so you can learn and understand the correct pronunciation of words in Spanish. After you learn the simple rules of pronunciation, you will learn over 300 words and phrases. At the completion of the course, you will be better equipped to communicate with the fastest growing ethnic group in Texas. Please bring a hand held tape recorder and one blank tape to class. Workplace Violence Prevention for the Security Industry - Seven (7) Hours! Home Top

The Workplace Violence Prevention Class is approved for all Private Investigators and Security Registrants including Alarm System Monitors and Installers. The cost of the Workplace Violence Prevention Class is $100.00 and requires pre-registration and a non-refundable pre-payment. Upon completion of this course, the student will understand the definition of workplace violence, the laws related to workplace violence, the four types of workplace violence, the statistical and economic impact of workplace violence, the warning signs and the responsibility of the employer and the security industry. At the end of the course, each student will receive the Workplace Violence Checklist. The checklist will assist you in assessing the threat potential of your accounts. The Fingerprinting 101 Class is approved for all Private Investigators and Security Registrants including Alarm System Monitors and Installers. The cost of the Fingerprinting 101 Class is $100.00 and requires pre-registration and a non-refundable pre-payment. Upon completion of this course, the student will better understand the requirements of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigations on rolling a good set of fingerprints. The purpose of this course is to reduce the number of fingerprints returned by the FBI. Handcuffing Certification Class Home Top

The Handcuffing Certification Class is a four (4) hour class. The cost of the Handcuffing Certification Class is $50.00. Proper Training in the Use of Handcuffs is Vital to Officers. Handcuffs are among the most often used tool by officers, yet training is severely lacking. Studies show that over 67% of resistance occurs after the first handcuff has been applied. All too often the result is injury and/or death to either the officer or subject. Training increases awareness and reduces liability.
